Creative Arts Awards for young people




In celebration of Mental Health Week, the Mental Health Council of Tasmania are hosting Creative Arts Awards for young people aged 15 to 25.

The theme of the Awards are “How do you Treat Yo Self?”

Entrants are asked to focus their creative works on the things they do to help themselves feel better when times are tough. It could be talking with their mates, going to the beach, or trying to get their sleep back on track.


There are three broad creative categories being:
1) Written: a short story or poem
2) Digital: audio recording, photograph, or short film
3) Traditional: drawing, painting, sculpture

The winner of each category will receive a $250 prize

Runner up prizes of:

6 x $50 vouchers from Fullers Bookshop

5 x $50 vouchers from Artery

1 x graphic tablet from Principal Computers (value $150)

2 x $20 vouchers from Red Herring Surf

Entry requirements

While there are no minimum size requirements, written work should be under 1000 words, digital under 5 minutes, and any visual work should be a manageable size for transport and viewing. Entries also need to be appropriate for public exhibition.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony to be held in Hobart on World Mental Health Day, 10 October 2018.
