Make a Difference – Make a Scarecrow!
Let’s put scarecrows everywhere on the East Coast!
Scarecrows keep an eye out and guard against bad things happening. They are usually made from odd bits and bobs brought together to form something whole. Just like people, who are shaped by many life experiences, both good and bad. Mental health is about embracing all those parts and still seeing value and dignity.
Please dress your scarecrow in something orange for Mental Health Week! Join the scarecrow trail to start the conversation.
Supported by Spring Bay Suicide Prevention Network and local organisations across the East Coast.

Join Conservation Volunteers Australia in celebrating Mental Health Week and take some time out! We will be at Whitestone Point, a beautiful spot with great views of the timtumili minanya (Derwent River).
This event is for any of you who would like to take a break and spend time outside in nature. We have two great activities planned – a mindful walk and an easy working bee at the same site.
We’ll start with a mindful walk led by Sandy King, which will take us around our old planting site, mainly on flat ground (but with some uneven terrain), and last for about 30 minutes.
Sandy is an Advanced certified Jivamukti yoga teacher and the Founder of the Golden Yoga School teacher training. We had a wonderful time at our last Mental Health Event and are excited to welcome Sandy back!
When we get back to our starting point, we will look after the land during our working bee. We will do some planting, maintenance and watering.
All training, gloves, tools, and morning tea will be provided to participants – just bring an open mind 🙂
***Please note we require all participants to wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, fully enclosed shoes and a hat.***
