In late 2009 we undertook a project to survey the member organisations of the Mental Health Council of Tasmania on a range of questions consistent with the Quality and Safety Standards framework on Compliments and Complaints. The survey focused on performance of day to day operations and full members with more than 6 months membership were invited to participate.

Annual, National Survey of Australian Mental Health Carers
The MHCA has developed the first of annual surveys to find out if things are getting better or worse for mental health carers. Brochure Information
The first national mental health carers survey is accessible at

It is open for just over a month, survey closes Friday 6th August.
In 2008 and 2009 over 1500 carers were asked ‘what are the most important issues of mental health that affect YOUR life”. 15 issues were identified by carers and published in Adversity to Advocacy (downloadable from MHCA.org.au)
This survey is the FIRST of the national surveys to find out if things are getting better or worse for mental health carers and the people they care .

THE NATURE OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INSOMNIA AND DEPRESSION
Participants are being sought for a study being conducted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for a Master of Clinical Psychology Degree for Penny Minehan who is being supervised by Dr Frances Martin, Deputy Head of School (School of Psychology, University of Tasmania). The study aims to investigate the nature of the relationship between insomnia and depression, using a (confidential) case study approach. Your assistance in informing anyone who may be interested in participating would be greatly appreciated. Marginalised Youth
Youth workers are invited to participate in a research study that aims to explore youth workers beliefs about the psychological and physical needs of marginalised youth and how you prioritise these needs when considering treatment or interventions. Kylie Harrison, a Masters student at Charles Sturt University, will conduct this study.
